I'm Sorry.

I'm sorry to all of you who may check in here regularly and see no updates. I have been so incredibly busy that I have had no time to spend with my poor neglected blog. My period of being super busy is going to end soon I believe, and then I should have some more interesting things to say once I have my life back!!!

"The Sow Is Mine!"

lbfinal3.jpg

To add to my growing repetoire of obscure celebrities who have passed away I must add the name of Oscar winning actress Mercedes McCambridge, who passed away March 2 at the age of 87. Best known for her role in the 1949 film "All The King's Men", I know her best as the woman who supplied the voice for the demon-possessed Reagan in one of my all time favorite films, "The Exorcist". I have always prided myself in being able to mimick her twisted, profanity laden lines from the film (usually an all time favorite party moment!), and am sad to know that this little gem from Hollywood has gone the way of the dodo! For more "Exorcist" fun, check out this link to a short animated clip called "The Exorcist in 30 seconds with bunnies" that is, of course, re-enacted using bunnies! Hysterical fun!

"Sleep-Walking On A High-Wire"

I am so exhausted that I cannot even accuratley describe the degree to which I am exhausted. This is always a hellish time of year for me- I have so much going on all at once with the musical at work, commitments at home and so many other things. My only solace is that in another week or so it will all be over and I will forget what it was like until next year. This is why I have been ignoring my journal so much lately. I promise that soon I will put more effort into my posts.

A Sunny Day Near Rockefeller Center

This pic is of me and my wonderful friend Anna! It was taken when we met for lunch in NYC last April. I will be seeing her soon, for her wedding and then in June when we go to see Siouxsie Sioux together! I miss Anna so much and I am so happy we are such good friends after all these years! Everyone should have friends as awesome as mine!

John McGeoch 1955-2004

mcgeoch92.jpg

My friend Anna from Absolutely Vile has just informed me that John McGeoch, guitarist from 1979-1982 for my favorite band Siouxsie & The Banshees has died. Apparantly he passed away in his sleep last Thursday. He was one of the best guitarists the band ever had and I always wished he had been with the band longer. What a sad loss, what a short life, but a hell of a talent!

On a side note: Apparantly Siouxsie and Budgie were thinking of asking John to guest with them on their upcoming tour, which makes his untimely passing even sadder.

Robert Pastorelli Dies At Age 49

pastorelli.jpg

I was very sad to read that actor Robert Pastorelli has passed away at the age of 49 at his home in Los Angeles of apparant drug-related causes. Most people know him from his role as "Eldin" from the show "Murphy Brown", her never quite finished house painter. I always liked that show and especially his character and chemistry with Candace Bergin, and had also enjoyed his work in feature films. 49 is definitely too young to go by my standards, and this is an unfortunate loss.

Sometimes Everything Is Just Too Much.

I just saw Gus Van Sant's "Elephant" this evening. I thought it was a powerful and disturbing film. At first I was a little put off by the directing style, but it grew on me throughout the film and really seemed to aid in giving the feeling that to the characters in the film it was just another day, nothing special, and then the whole world turns upside down. I'm sure most people reading this have had similar experiences with life's surprises. No one every really wakes up and thinks "something terrible is going to happen today, something that will alter my life forever". Those things just happen, the same way you stub your toe or get a paper cut. What was even more distrubing to me about the film is that with so many of the characters I could assign people I went to school with to the roles. It's even scarier to me now that I work in education.

In other sad news, the body of actor Spalding Gray
was found in the New York's East River on Sunday. What a terrible loss for his family and friends.

Surgery And Siouxsie

Well, the last few days have been interesting to say the least! I am now at home recovering from surgey that was performed yesterday. You may remember my posts about kidney stones. The surgery I had is called Shock Wave Lithotripsy. It involves focusing sound waves (my doctor said they are equivilant to sonic booms) and shooting them into the kidney to break up the kidney stones. My stone was 5 mm, which is too big to pass naturally. I don't remember much of the procedure because of the sedation, only that when they started that it really hurt so they upped my sedation and then I don't remember anything until they were done! I was very sore and badly bruised yesterday, and it's the same today except I can move around better. I am glad they did not have to cut me. I was in the hospital yeserday from 7 am until 11:30 am and was very glad when they let my father bring me home. Apparantly I had some sort of reaction to the sedation and laughed hysterically as the wheeled me down the hall to the operating room, or so my father says, as I don't remember this. They must think I am a lunatic! Once again, thank you to all of you who have expressed concern and well wishes to me throughout all of this.

On a much happier note, The Creatures website posted a new tour on Wednesday called An Evening with Siouxsie. According to the site it will be a 2 hour show in smaller venues encompassing songs from both The Banshees catalog and The Creatures catalog of songs as well as new material from The Creatures new album Hai. Ex Kodo-Drummer Leanord Eto will be a guest on the tour and will be performing on the songs from Hai as well as others. I am so excited about this tour as Siouxsie Sioux is one of my all time favorite performers! I am even more excited about the fact that there are two shows in NYC, June 8 & 9 at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. I can't wait to get down to the city and see this show! With this tour, the up-coming B-sides box set and re-released albums I am in Siouxsie Heaven!

"Like A Carcass"

The site was down briefly last night, but is now running smoothly again thanks to the lovely Anna of Absolutely Vile! Thank you so much dear for helping out a fella in trouble! Yesterday was a particulary boogery day, involving an IV, about 12 x-rays and numerous other things. It's nice to know there are people you can count on when things are rough- Thank You to everyone who has stuck by me through all of this!
